The book aims to introduce the novice or would-be collector of tools to the subject by explaining as simply as possible the types and uses of the most generally available tools. The accent is on collecting tools rather than their history, but the chapter on decorated and dated tools by Philip Walker will provide something for the established collector from a leading authority on the subject.
