Description
This is a unique online “teacher’s training” course as very few online educational courses address this aspect of English teaching. We have completed 3 batches of live 6 week sessions on Zoom so far, attended by over 600 teachers. We are now offering the same sessions online for those who want to do it at their own pace and time.

The course has 6 modules, each module lasting 1.5 hours, with the Course Director, Usha Pandit. These arepre-recorded sessions to which you haveunlimited access that allows you to watch and learn from the videos as many times as you need to.

Outline of Topics Covered -

1) Barebones and Tools of Writing - Diagnostics for differentiation. Principles of Volume Frequency and Context, Three elements of Writing. Techniques of vocabulary building. Pre tasks, modes, and stages of Writing. How to plan Writing with all genres, integration and rubrics. Combining content and form. Tips for the reluctant writer. The basic genres of English writing.

2) Descriptive Writing - The descriptive pyramid. How to generate the right words. Analysis and factors that make a great description. Inference and literature. Event and setting descriptions. Techniques like painting the predicate.

3) Writing Fiction - Types of fiction. The 5 elements of a story. Sourcing ideas. Types, variations and requirements of stories. The value of settings. The art of creating round characters. Ideation techniques. Graphic organisers. Sequencing and scaffolding.

4) Writing non-fiction - Difference between fiction and non-fiction. Ideation techniques. Pre- activities, games warm up. Structure, requirements vocabulary of Discussion, Argument, Persuasion and Reporting genres. Key idea recognition. Speech, advertisements and letters. Target vocabulary, Passive structures. Samples of writing

5) Forms of Writing - Difference between forms and genres. Teaching forms. Reading to write. Strategic ideation. Friendly and formal letter analysis for strategy, Autobiography with integration. Poetry to writing. Dynamics of illustrated texts. Other practical forms of writing.

6) Error correction and Evaluation - Teaching before testing. Types of corrections and assessments. Creation of rubrics. Major types of errors in the primary. Tense and spelling strategies. Weeding errors. Basics of teacher intervention. Struggling students. Progress records. Reporting. The dynamism of the Assessment cycle.
